ReplyOne more case of the developer gets the money and the citizens get the congested mess left behind. Since you cannot expand the pike, when White Flint is finished you will have solid traffic from below NIH to Rockville, excellent planning! But can MoCo grow its way out of congestion, no, but the citizens buy the thought. In a decade, when JHU finds a tenant for its mini Pentagon, route 28 will mimic 355.

ReplyHeaded for a bankrupt county...I am sure the people who live in Nassau Cty outside NY did not think they would ever be bankrupt with all their wealth, but that is what excessive government accomplished, ditto for MoCo

ReplyWhen not being watched, they dropped the ball. Now they want a preapproved rate increases for work yet to happen. That seems inappropriate and that is why we have the utility regulated by the PSC. They can come to the PSC as they complete this compelling work.

ReplyNice that the Volunteers also support the Council ignoring the voters objection to this policy. One more reason this one party system has gone a muck. One would hope the ballot box would have geater impact.

ReplyRestoration efforts are always unpredictable, storm intensity, path , etc. But PEPCO was to improve communication and I think they failed to show improvement. Time to restoration communication was useless. The expanded operator service failed for me. They gace out no time estimates which is as bad as inaccurate estimates. They get going but just a little slower than others but AARP is not going to solve this issue. Worked on Leggett's group and we tried to figure a better way, but in reality even PSC cannot run PEPCO. They do try but it is not always suucessful.

ReplyBaur is a little deceptive about speed camera and warning signs. The speed camera law requires that the warning signs be before ALL spots with the camera. The polite warning signs on entry to the State are nice, but the County is obligated to have the signs up before the cameras, portable or fixed.

ReplyThe only way to get MoCo and Planning to stop over developing neighborhoods like Bethesda is to vote, both at the ballot box and with your feet. I stay away from Bethesda because it is crowded beyond any rational standard for customer convenience. White Flint is next and until voters replace the Council with some people with more vision, the problem will get worse.

ReplyThe problem Mr. Stanley presented was he did not grasp the difference between smart growth and too much growth. We don't have nor can afford the infrastucture to jam as many people as the developers and politicans desire to shoehorn into our county. We need to learn to live on less or we will become a bloated urban wasteland.

The real issue is how many people on the bus are able to walk to the bus stop? If you have to drive and there is no place to park, you are back on the road. If you can walk to the bus stop on the pike, why would you not take the faster Metro option? My conclusion is, certainly in the near term, it just pushes traffic into other roads. The County will spend BIG bucks subsidizing this elephant.
