Garine Isassi is a freelance writer and former singer/songwriter with a background in marketing and publicity. She currently acts as guest editor for Patch News sites in Montgomery County, MD.
She wrote biweekly for the parenting column, "Family Affair," which appeared on several Maryland Patch websites. She was also the popular "Mom in the Middle" humor columnist for NorthPotomac.Patch.com. She has been writing articles, blogs, corporate material and humor essays for over 15 years.
She and her family moved to North Potomac in 2009 after living and working in Texas and the New York metro area. She enjoys the fact that she lives so close to both the urban and rural environments in Maryland and loves the diverse culture, history and politics they offer.
Her favorite movie line about MD is from the off-beat movie "Managment." The main character says she's from Maryland and the guy who is wooing her says, "Oh! Maryland is for lovers!"
"No," she replies dryly, "Virginia is for lovers . . . Maryland is for crabs."
