4. At 3pm this afternoon, Black Hills Park rangers will lead a story time on the Kingfisher pontoon boat about Black Hill's Bald Eagles. Go for a ride around Little Seneca Lake and hear the stories about our national bird while looking for the park's resident eagle. This is great fun for kids over 3 and adults. It's best to register at www.parkPASS.org, but they will welcome you on the boat if you just show up with your $5. The ride is about an hour and leaves from the boat dock near Black Hill Visitor Center, 20906 Lake Ridge Dr., Boyds, MD. Call 301-528-3492.

5. In case you missed it, Pepco, the company that has been chopping down trees all over the place lately, is now going to give away trees to the public. At least they are putting forth some effort to make up for some of the past difficulties with customers.
