5 Useful Things To Know Today: March 19

Start your week off with the right information

  1. The weather today will be cloudy in the morning followed by isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon. It will be warm, getting up to 72F. There is a 30% chance of rain.
  2. March is the time to start thinking about Summer Camps for the kids. Some local day camps are offered by the Maryland SoccerPlex and the Discovery Sports Center, the City of Gaithersburg Arts Barn, City of Gaithersburg sports and recreation clinics, and Montgomery County Parks at Blackhills Nature Center.
  3. National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. starts tomorrow and will run five weeks this year. The trees have bloomed early due to the unexpectedly warm weather, so get out there to see them as soon as you can.
  4. The ACCUPLACER is a test used by colleges to determine if students are college ready. There will be an information session about this test for parents of high school students, tonight at Quince Orchard HS, 15800 Quince Orchard Rd., 7pm. Parents will also learn how students who are college ready can earn college credit prior to leaving high school, and save thousands of dollars.
