5 Useful Things to Know Today: September 9

Stories, football and snakes

1. The weather is iffy today, with rain in the morning and more rain in the afternoon. There is still a flood warning in Montgomery County, so please be careful in low lying areas. The high today is exptected to be around 79F.

2. For the toddlers this morning, Kentlands Whole Foods is having Story Time in their cafe at 10am.

3. Get out the rain ponchos and head out to Quince Orchard High School's Varsity Football home game tonight. Blair High School will be at QO's field starting at 6:30pm.

4. The kind of rain we've been seeing this week brings out snakes in our area. Two people have already been treated for Copperhead snake bites recently. As more flooding happens, the danger of more snakes coming into peoples yards and sidewalks grows, including venomous ones. Read for more information.

5. There are many 9/11 Tenth Anniversary Ceremonies happening this weekend. Locally, you can join a local Remembrance in Kentlands' Inspiration Park on Sunday, September 11 at 7 p.m. Inspiration Park was dedicated by the City on the one-year anniversary of the September 11th events and is located at the corner of Inspiration and Firehouse Lanes in the Kentlands, Gaithersburg.
