Some things to do this weekend for fun and culture

Where: The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair

When: Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm

What: Mash up cars and a lot of noise at the Grandstand inside the Fair Grounds. Bring your earmuffs.

Price: $12.00 each, ages 2-7 $7.00 (separate from fair admission).

2. The FAIR's got TALENT!

Where: The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair

When: Semi-Finals show on Friday night, 7pm. Finals on Saturday night, 7pm.

What: Ten performers will be selected on Friday during the semi-finals to go onto the finals. The top three winners win cash prizes.

Price: Free (with admission to the fair)

3.  “Live Action Hero”

Where: Kentlands outdoor patio between the Star Diner and Thai Tanium Restaurant.

When: Saturday, August 20, 7pm - 10pm

What: Part of the Summer Live concert series in Kentlands. Rock music outside and for the whole family.

Price: Free.

4. The Potomac Conservancy Cleanup

Where: The River Center at Lock 8, accessed at 7906 Riverside Drive, Cabin John, MD 20818

When: Sunday, Aug 21, 2pm - 4pm

What: Volunteers are asked to come help in the cleanup of the C&O Canal Towpath along miles 8, 9 and beyond. Meet at the River Center at Lock 8 and stay for the art and music afterward.

Price: Free

5.  Voices of the River

Where: River Center at Lock 8 in Cabin John, access at  7906 Riverside Drive, Cabin John, MD 20818

When: Sunday, Aug 21, 4pm - 7pm

What: Come see original art and hear live music while you are on your Sunday bike ride or hike along the C&O Canal. The work of local artists Adnan Alsaffar, Hushang Tohildoo, Nan Fuhrman, and Mimi Betz will be on display. Reed Martin, repeat winner of old-time banjo contests, will play a very old claw-style banjo to the beat of the river.
