What: KAT 2nd Stage and the Arts Barn present a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) musical by Robert and Willie Reale based on the well-love children's books. A Year with Frog and Toad

Price: Tickets are $18, $16 for City of Gaithersburg residents, and $9 for students through grade 12.

2. 9/11 Community Remembrance and Interfaith Prayer Service

Where: Maryland Ave & E Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD 20850 (Courthouse Square Park)

When: September 11, 2011 at 12:30pm

What: In honor and remembrance of the victims and events of September 11, 2001, Montgomery County is holding a Community Remembrance at Courthouse Square Park. The event will be followed by an Interfaith Service of Memory and Hope at Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockville, 100 Welsh Park Drive Rockville, MD.

Price: Free

 

3. The Silver Spring Jazz Festival

Where: Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Veterans Plaza (Ellsworth & Fenton), Silver Spring, MD

When: Saturday, September 10, 2011, 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM

What: Free annual event in Downtown Silver Spring with a variety of jazz performances. Some of the acts this year are Marcus Johnson, La Leyenda, the Project Natale quartet and vocalist Sheila Ross. The performances are held outdoors so bring a blanket and/or beach chair. Food will be available to purchase from local restaurants.

4. Native American Story Telling

Where: National Museum of the American Indian, 4th St. & Independence Ave. SW

When: Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30 & 3:30 p.m.

What: Celebrate with traditional Navajo, Sioux, and Apache stories through video, film, and A Native staff member reads books by or about people from different Native communities throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Price: Free

 

5. The Maryland Renaissance Festival 

Where: Crownsville Rd in Annapolis, MD

When: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 3-5, 10am-7pm. Continues on weekends through the end of October.

What: This outdoor festival presents a full-day outdoor theatrical reproduction of medieval England, complete with sword fights, pompous royalty, dirty serfs, games, jugglers, turkey legs. There are roving shows, period merchants, and lot of fun for families.

Price: $9.00 for ages 7-15, $19.00 for adults, $16.00 for seniors. Coupons and group rates are available on the website.
